Over the past couple of days, there have been quite a number of articles and posts about how to manage Mother’s Day when you are motherless.
I was quite grateful for them as they really helped to shine a light on the secret struggle that I have gone through over the past 5 years since losing my mom to colon cancer.
Here she is. My loving Mother Beatrice Egwuonwu
Today, I decided that the healthiest thing I could do was to say to myself what my mother would have said to me.
As I began the process, suddenly it became a song that I want to share from the heart of all those who’s mother has passed on.
Here is the Song: Mother’s Light
*Recorded extemporaneously from my mind into my Samsung S5. pardon the key 😉
TITLE: Mother’s Light by Ozioma
You my Darling
You my Darling
This is your mother calling you…
from the womb
I have given you all that I could give
Ensuring that you live
at the level of sky
Even though I had to die, I live on in you
I live on in you
I live on in you
And every time I hugged you.
Every time I kissed you
Every time I held you
I gave a little piece of me
Every time I walked you
Every time I soothed you
Every time I told you to stay away from blasphemy
I gave you..
I gave you ALL
I gave you…
I gave you ALL
And every single day, in each and every way
I know you’re missing me–especially today
I want you to know
I want you to feel
I want you to hear:
My love lives inside of: YOU
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!
